This is a unique opportunity to take part in the inaugural Midlands Engine trade and investment missions, led by a UK Government Minister. This is a unique opportunity for companies to take part in the Midlands Engine mission to Baltimore, Maryland. Maryland is recognised as a cyber security leader – nationally and internationally and is a major hub for cyber security in the US with an extensive cyber business community and very strong links to education and government. The mission will include the prestigious CyberMaryland Conference 2016 which is seen as mutually beneficial in growing cyber business, education and government links between the UK and US with the objective being to host a reciprocal visit from Maryland in 2017.

The SMMT & AIO Meet the Buyer event will be held at the Automechanika Show at the NEC in June,and businesses are now invited to submit their expressions on interest in attending.

Online expression of interest (The deadline for submissions is 29 April 2016). After this date, all profiles will be reviewed by the buyers. SMMT will be in touch with companies as soon as a buyer confirms a meeting after this date.

A legally vetted process drawn up by SMMT is used to gather the necessary sourcing demand information from buyers. The Automotive Supplier Finder (ASF) database of product and service terms will be used to check for supplier capabilities against the buyer’s commodity demand list and therefore we strongly recommend that suppliers keep their profiles up to date throughout the year. If any companies in your area wish to participate in future events as a buyer, please ask them to contact SMMT at for more information.

The Drive West Midlands Connected & Autonomous Vehicles (CAV): Developing the UK Supply Chain will be hosted at HORIBA MIRA and is being put together in partnership with the Knowledge Transfer Network, with support from Cenex and AESIN. Minerva Mill Exchange – Launch Event

Minerval Mill Innovation Centre are launching a  new business club at Minerva Mill in Alcester – “Minerva Business Exchange” –  on Wednesday, 10th December at 5.30pm.

Minerva Mill is an 18th century listed building which was formerly a needle mill but which has been fully restored and now houses over 30 businesses of all sizes. It has been presented with an architectural award by Alcester Civic Society. There will be an opportunity to visit the office building during this evening event.

At the event, you can find out details of membership of the club as well as a series of events for the first half of 2015. The forthcoming programme will include a talk from one of the tenants, the National Trust, as well as a Business Matters roadshow in conjunction with Stratford Council and Warwickshire County Council. AND THE EVENT IS FREE.

The Programme is delivered by Aston Business School in partnership with the Goldman Sachs Foundation and it is targeted at business owners who have clear ambitions to expand their small businesses or social enterprises.

The programme is designed specifically for the leaders of established small businesses who have the ambition and the potential to generate substantial growth in their enterprises. Participants  benefit from a full package of support with a strong focus on structured peer learning and the creation of community of entrepreneurs. The emphasis throughout the programme is on learning that is practically applicable to you and your business straight away. This is done by providing you with practical tools and resources to help lay the foundation for long term sustainable growth and job creation in your businesses.

This support includes attendance at high quality, practically-focussed business and management education modules, delivered by Aston Business School, plus a range of other tailor-made support including specialist workshops and one to one business support. Through the on-going success of the programme, we are proud to be developing a growth orientated network of influential business leaders across the Midlands.
